Mequon, WI – Mequon-based Shaffer Development announced today that St. Paul Fish Company will be opening at Spur 16.

Spur 16, named after the railroad spur originally on this site will integrate multi-family housing and the historic renovation of The Mequon River Cannery and Mequon Public Works buildings constructed in the early 1900’s. 

St. Paul Fish Company will have an oyster bar, fish market and sit-down restaurant that will seat 200. There will be extensive outdoor seating and indoor private dining options.  Owner Tim Collins stated, “We like the developer and we like the building and we like the area.”

Spur 16 is located in the heart of Mequon adjacent to the interurban bike trail and within walking distance to the Mequon Town Center, library, parks, and Milwaukee River.  The residential apartment homes will be tucked away at the north end of the site next to a single-family neighborhood.  The apartment homes will all have an attached or below ground garage, be pet friendly and will have premier finishes and concierge services.  The restoration of the commercial buildings will include a Public Market.  Tenants will be announced over the next several months. Surrounding the market will be community experiences which will include a weekend farmers market, food trucks, art and musical events.

“We already have reservation on 2 of our 10 townhomes that will be located along Buntrock Avenue and we have not started marketing the project” Stated Cindy Shaffer, owner of Shaffer Development who is developing this project.

We are planning to break ground next month with completion of the commercial buildings in Summer of 2018 and townhomes in the fall of 2018.  The remainder of the 3 multifamily buildings will be completed in the spring and summer of 2019.
